Hibaldstow Bridge

In March 2025, Sentry Boats returned to Hibaldstow Bridge, a Grade II listed structure on the Ancholme navigation, to provide dedicated safety cover and marine support during the final phase of restoration works. Our role focused on maintaining a safe working environment while contractors completed finishing touches and removed the scaffolding system from the bridge.

Operating within the confined and environmentally sensitive canal setting, Sentry Boats deployed its Whaly workboat fitted with an electric engine, chosen for its zero-emission and low-noise performance. This approach aligned with the client’s sustainability objectives and reduced environmental disturbance to the surrounding waterways and wildlife.

Our services on this project included:

• Continuous safety boat cover for operatives working over water during scaffold removal and inspection activities.
• Standby and rescue capability, ensuring immediate response in the event of an incident.
• Environmental protection through the use of electric propulsion, minimising emissions and disruption on the canal.
• Coordination with site management to control access, monitor weather and water conditions, and maintain compliance with safety plans and local navigation rules.

The completion of the Hibaldstow Bridge repairs marked another successful collaboration between Sentry Boats and the principal contractor, demonstrating our ability to deliver reliable, sustainable, and safety-focused marine support for heritage infrastructure projects in sensitive waterways.
