River Tyne Sampling Operations

In July 2025, Sentry Boats was commissioned to provide marine support for a multi-day water sampling and environmental monitoring programme on the River Tyne. Over the course of four days, our team supplied a workboat and experienced skipper to facilitate safe and efficient access for environmental scientists conducting sampling operations along various sections of the river.

Working closely with the research and environmental team, Sentry Boats ensured that all in-river activities were carried out safely and in accordance with navigation and environmental regulations. Our local knowledge of river conditions, tides, and traffic management proved invaluable in helping the project stay on schedule.
Our crew had the unique opportunity to work alongside the research vessel Sir Bobby Robson, assisting in positioning and manoeuvring during sample collection — a fascinating and collaborative part of the operation.
