The ongoing renovation of the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne, one of the region’s most iconic landmarks, requires precision planning, sensitive handling, and robust safety measures. Appointed as the marine operations and safety support provider, Sentry Boats has played a vital role in ensuring that all works over and around the River Tyne are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact.

Working in close collaboration with the principal contractor, Newcastle and Gateshead City Councils, and heritage engineers, Sentry Boats is delivering a comprehensive package of marine logistics and in-river support services throughout the project. Our experienced crews and fully MCA-coded vessels are responsible for maintaining safe access for construction teams, managing exclusion zones, and facilitating specialist inspection and repair operations beneath the bridge deck. This will continue as works proceed to the main arch of the bridge over the next two years.
